I wanted to announce our plans for the 2009 Tennessee Blender Conference. We had such a great time last year and are looking forward to an even greater time this year. More information can be found on our website. There is a substantial discount for early registration.

AGAIN!! To far from me! nothing happens in the UK!.... except rain.... and maybe the odd crazy cow here and there!
Only in Tennessee can you have a Bluegrass concert at a 3D software conference. :-P
I'm in Tennessee, but $65 seems pretty steep just to hang out for a day and get free pizza. Oh, and the music, wow, I'm not so sure I would want to listen to that. This seems a little out of my league, anyway. That said, I'll post about this conference on my blog, in case someone I know is interested.
I agree with dusty, i never see classes for blender in the uk, and its been raining all day and not long ago i saw 3 cows doing it, YES THREE!!!
@dusty and Joe, sorry you are too far to come to the Tennessee Conference, but there was nothing here either until I organized it. Maybe you both could organize an event in the UK. It is a lot of work, but worth it, to get everyone together. If there is anything I can do to help, let me know. Unfortunately, I have no suggestions for your cow problem.
@ByronK - Good luck with the conference! I will have to check my schedule and see if I can make it.
Are there ever any in Ohio?
More cowbell!
The user group meeting we had in Melbourne, Australia was a blast simply to just meet other users in person. Might be worth $65 for that alone, but there might be other costs they cover like venue rental, paying the speakers a bit etc. I doubt it is for the pizza alone.
Production pipelines and Blender sounds like a great theme too, much needed everywhere really.
As for a UK meeting, I am pretty sure people were trying to organise a London based user group on the Blenderartists.org forums, would be worth checking out for the locals.
I know economic times are tough right now, but $65 for this conference is a steal! It is worth way more than that. My guess is that most Blender users will make back the registration fee many times over by using what they learn. Where else can you get all this info, network with others, and have pizza? If I know Byron, he has other surprises for the participants also. Like Ben said, there probably are expenses to put together this conference. Thanks Byron. It will be a great event!
I've been wondering just what exactly goes on at a blender conference? I've been using blender steadily for years now and it's my main tool when making 3d models for various video games I'm working with. Tennessee is fairly close to Ohio and I might be able to make the trek down there to see what's going on.
Thanks,
David
D Diehl, have you looked at the link showing last years conference? There are videos and descriptions of most of the presentations.
The conference was a wonderful mix of presenters and learners last year! We had a great time, great lunch (home made!) and a wonderful get-together at a local restaurant that evening -- followed by a walking tour of the public sculptures around the downtown area.
I'd definitely recommend anyone interested -- no matter what their skill level -- to attend if they can!
Due to lack of response the conference has been canceled for this year. We at the Tri-Cities Blender Users group will be sponsering a one day free miniconference on August 9 for those who are interested. If anyone needs information contact me (423) 863-2864 or [email protected]. Thanks.
