Sebastian König has created a videtutorial for CGCookie about using curves in Blender, "Working with Curves in Blender". It's a good overview of using curves and I learned from it!
Or, check out Working with Curves in Blender on Vimeo.
From the CGCookie page:
Blender's Curve-Tools are quite a powerful and convenient way to model all kind of things. Tubes, Lathe-Objects, Logos, Tentacles and many more are totally easy and fast to create by using curves. This tutorial shows you how to use the different types of curves, control-points and handles and how to use them. You will learn how to trace a logo and to give it some depth, and how to create lathe-objects within Blender and add some variations to them by using the lattice- and the cast-modifier.

Cool...+1 to blender's growing tutorial base.
Very nice. Thanks
Nicely done!
Excellen tutorial! I really learned something today.
Good job, thanks for sharing. Locks up part-way through (lots of the long CG Cookies videos do)... good thing its on Vimeo too!
This is the most I've learned about blender in that short of amount of time! I really see the power of curves!
Thanks!
Thank you again for the comments and feedback. Working to add more content as I can. Also still trying to figure out why the longer ones lock up for some users. But as VF said, that is why the Vimeo is there as well. Hope all can enjoy.
Cheers,
Wes
A very helpful tutorial. :) I learned a few things that'll make some of my modeling a bit easier.
cgcookie: Thank goodness for the Vimeo version being available. I was able to make it most of the way through the video on cgcookie.com, but couldn't get the last bit to play.
Very useful. It showed me some techniques that will improve how I use curves.
Thank you Sebastian. You are a very good instructor. Clear and precise. A perfect tutorial.
