Happy 2008!!

newyear.jpgFrom the entire BlenderNation team, let me send you the best wishes for 2008! We raise our glass you, the Blender Community, for making this little 3D app such a huge success. The activity in 2007 was amazing: development was faster than ever, the artwork is getting better and better, more and more tutorials and other documentation have been written, and the amount of activity in all the international Blender communities is unbelievable.

We'll keep on covering all this to our best abilities, but let me ask you: what are your personal Blender goals for 2008?

(Thanks to Victor Silva for the cool picture!)

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. my goal will be to finally create something truly movie-quality. seems reasonable enough...

happy new year, my fellow blenderheads!

  2. My Blender goals for 2008 are to finish my music video project, use Blender for more commersial work, and to increase my Blender knowledge and skills, hopefully to a level where i can start contributing back to our amazing community in some way.

Happy New Year to you all !!!

  3. My Blender goal for 2008 is to start blending again and end this creativity blockade that lasts for over a year now... :-(
Still no idea how to achieve that goal though.

The only thing i have done in Blender in 2007 is a screw nut for a customer's 32*32 windows icon ;-)

  4. Happy new year all!

My blender goal for 2008 is to improve my knowlegde of rigging and animation so i can finally create something that's worth putting online :)

  5. My goals are for it to finally have voxels, have demolitions and explode modifier in it instead of in a seperate build, and I plan to do some cool specialeffects

  6. My Blender targets will be (yes, I'm already in the progress of making a movie-quality animation) to work more on that animation. I've taken a long break and I think I should GET BACK TO BLENDER. (sorry, programming, I love you too, don't worry)

I will also see how I can contribute to the upcoming BlenderLife (search on blenderartists for the thread)

I will also be hopefully giving some clever upgrades and stuff to the Blender Model Repository. If YOU can't think of something to do, then just submit your models to the BMR! http://e2-productions.com/repository/

  7. Happy New Year from the readers!
My Blender goals: To create my first cartoon animation within a team, to create more advanced models, especially characters, and to apply knowledge from other apps to Blender.
Here's hoping that this year is better than the last one!

  8. I compiled Blender last year. And this year I hope to get working with the code to improve the video editing aspects of it. I want the editor good enough to use as a central video editing application for me.

  9. My goal is to finally learn all the facets of blender and the internal/external renderers... but since you all keep adding such cool stuff so rapidly I've decided to accept that's never going to happen 8 )

  10. I want to finish my Dalek, and make a low-poly version of it to make a game out of it.

I also want to see a game and another movie made from Blender. In other words, FINISH PEACH AND APRICOT!!!

  11. Happy new year! My art resolutions are to learn to animate and to do lots of blending (and to keep learning anatomy of course) xD

  12. happy new year guys&&gals! a big THANX to blendernation for your efforts!

personal goals for 2k8: animation, animation and animation again (i'm a coder learning the basics of animation - i know sometimes i act like a pervert!!!)

    debian rules,
    poutsoklis

  13. My goal is to produce more tutorials, and help welcome more new users to Blender, all while improving my own knowledge and skills; and then to figure out all the new functionality of 2.50!!!

  14. Surprisingly enough, my goal is to try really hard not to code any new stuff into blender, otherwise I'll fail all my exams and my ambitions to become a guitarist will be completely ruined! :( The trouble is ... it's so distracting!! (and I've started to tinkle with some code now as well - gulp...) Oh well, hehehe... ;)

    ~epat. :)

  15. I hope to be able to create many more tutorials with a greater emphasis on modeling and animation. And, to finally get a REAL website setup!

Good luck to everyone and have a Happy New Year!!

  16. My personal Goal is to start my studies in Computer Sciences alongside my normal occupation and my blender goals will be to improve my skills in various ways.

I wish all the best to you, your families and friends.

    Have a fine time.

  17. My ultimate goal is to finish my 3d animation. Hopefully 3 months from now the animation will be complete.

Good Luck to you all! Happy New Year!

  18. Well, my Blender Goal for this 2008 is to learn really much more Blender and to teach everything i can learn. Maybe create an Argentinean Blender Community... ;)
Guys, thanks for the enthusiasm, and a really really good 2008 for everyone!!

    Cheers,

  19. Mine is to go FUR nuts! Fur on all my nuts....err..
    ...

...I mean....fur on al my NUTTY characters...not that they got nuts
