Its the middle of the year again, which means the Blender World Cup is being polished, and the competition is about to heat up. This years prize pool is pretty good, so if you are interested we'd love to see there.
The intention of the BWC, is to create a challenge where community members can prove their skills and consistency. For this reason the challenge has previously been over multiple rounds covering multiple topics, such as modelling, compositing, animating.....
This year the challenge has been given a little more freedom, as participants are allowed to do as they please within the given inspirational words. The competition is structured into two rounds.
1. Qualification
For those wishing to enter please drop in to BlenderArtists so you can see how to qualify, and get your name down on the list.
2. Competition
The competition topic has been whittled down over the months and will be reduced even further, so keep an eye on This Thread at BlenderArtists for the final topic on the 1st of July

Hoera. May the best blenderhead win.
Quick question.. Does the 3DConnexion support Blender or vice versa if that's the case? Anyone used one with Blender? I'm interested in 3DConnexion and it'd be great if it would work as intended in Blender.
Good luck to all who enter, look forward to seeing some awesome work!
It does seem that there's a patch available for 2.44 :) Happy days!

I have the same qeustion of TX_RX_FX.
Any deeper details?
Cheers, j
awesome i cant wait to see what the topic is
TX_RX_FX, a patched version will be avaiable soon :) the work has begun, as for the controller, i have one (hence i search for the patched builds, ask for them, and soon begin to supply them) and its amazing truly an awesome price:)
*kinda makes me not want to get gold now:S what could i do with 2 navigators? *i hate to sell stuff or give away, call me greedy, but when i win something its like a trophy in itself lol
May the Best Blenderhead win indeed.
3Dconnexion has not officially announced support for blender yet. Which is highlighted by the fact that the patches and development is still in early stages. support may come soon, it may not. But my gamble is that it will come, and the winner of this competition will be in the crowd of early adopters.
Tom: If you win I'm sure you could negotiate to trade the SpaceNavigator with another place winner in exchange for a product from the E-shop.
Good luck everyone

Got my Space Navigator today... now I need make it work with Blender. Is there a patched build I can download or do I need to patch and build my self? Or just wait?
So far I used the device with Google Earth and now I don't want to use my mouse to navigate in 3d space anymore... I think it is the same like only having a keyboard and no mouse with a graphical operating system. The up, down, left, right keys are one way to move the courser around, but the mouse makes working so much more comfortable. Same with the Space Navigator or any other 3d mouse i guess, it's a no brainier, no learning curve at all.
Now we just need better 3d displays - I don't want to wear any goggles... and if I move my head I want to see also some changes on the screen, like looking around a corner by just moving the head. Future screens should be specified to meet or exceed the human eye in all ways. Lets just wait ten years...

What a great game, I can't believe USA did that.
