Tutorial: Modeling a Toyota Celica

19

Toyota CelicaIf you want to learn how to model a car from reference pictures, then check out this tutorial by Gaurav Nawani.

Gaurav covers techniques such as loading bitmaps in the 3D viewports, tracing them, mesh extrusion, normal correction and using subdivision surfaces. The tutorial is aimed at intermediate level Blender users.

You may remember Gaurav from The Making of Ambassador Summers.

The tutorial has been on his site for more than a year, but it's still excellent learning material and we definitely want to have this one in our library.

Youl'll find it here.

Update: Gaurav's site traffic maxxed out. For the time being, I've put a local copy on this site and routed it through the Coral Cache. The links may display slowly, but they work:

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. Update: I had to switch from local hosting to the Coral Cache, a distributed network that takes a lot of load off the server. The traffic was killing the connection.. We checked with some people around the planed and the links are ok.

  2. hey bart, do you have any other such exciting tutorials.it will be so helpful to me as i am only a beginner ,im only 17yrs old . :)

  3. The links in the article almost work... The text looks fine, but the image links still point at a geocities website, and don't display anymore.
