Goldomega's food looks very convincing.
A pupu platter with spare ribs, beef teriyaki, chicken fingers and egg rolls with tea and condiments on the side.
This scene is part of a series I'm making on food I'm calling "Square Meals." I've been on a diet since late July 2015 and have lost about 63 pounds since starting. While dieting, I've found myself thinking a lot about food. Especially food that I can't have as often anymore.
Making these scenes in Blender has helped me abstract the idea of food into just the visual aspects and has helped me deal with the cravings. It's also helped me explore and learn more about procedural textures. (Only three image textures in this scene's materials.)
Now for some tech specs. Made in Blender 2.75 with 3 image textures made in Photoshop CC. Rendered in Cycles. This is a scaled-down version of my original 3600x3600px render (aiming for a 12x12" print at 300dpi.) Took about 21 hours at 900 samples on my Geforce GTX 660. About 611k polys or so.
3 area lamps, 2 spot lamps and a tinted HDRI environment map for a little fill and reflections. I used two square area lamps at camera-left and right as key and fill respectively, one rectangular area lamp backlighting as a kicker/edge light for some of the background objects, one spot lamp pointed at the background with a wave texture to mimic a Venetian blind background light and one very focused spot pointed at the grill at center-frame to bring out a little more texture.
