CubeSurfer particles mesher beta version released

18

Pyroevil has released a beta of his new particle meshing add-on 'cubesurfer'. The results for fluids and snow already look amazing!

Pyroevil writes:

I'm proud to announce the release of the beta version of my new addon.
It's a new simple particles mesher. It's can mesh over millions of particles in few seconds.

It's can be for sure be used with my Molecular add-ons , but with any others particles simulation too.

Video example here ( flickering is now fixed , video coming from a earlier version ):

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. Talk about an important addon. When it leaves beta it needs to be added to Blender's standard release. Great job. I love it. Addons like this help prove that Blender is ready for bigger things(Like Hollywood)

  2. The ONLY thing missing from the ocean sim is foam, after that it'll be perfect. I wonder how hard that'll be to code, also I wonder if it'll support vectors for motion blurring, also hope that they fix the artifacts from the motion blur node in the compositor, but I can be patient, they're busy enough :D

The foam effect is already possible, but it's not in this demonstration because the focus is the intended to be the physics of the particles and how seamless the surface is, foam would interfere with this particular show case. Plus, the scale of the water in this simulation indicates that if it were real, there wouldn't be enough water to create foam.

    • Motionblur is my next feature I need to add. Need to figure out how to use already available blender mechanics to do it but I already have a rough idea of it. Foam, sand and any others interacting debris can be added with molecular. Molecular can be mixup with fluid .Not shown in this video. Thanks for the great comments ! :)

    • Windows ? If yes , check if "Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 Redistributable" is intalled on your system. If not installed, search for it on the microsoft website and install it. I need to add a note about this on the download page :)

  3. Thank you for this powerful addon!!

Until now, a virtual object is often a mesh with empty interior. It's a virtual papier machê, I have to say. What if we create a virtual reality with virtual atoms and molecules, approaching the configuration of physic world?? This addon can make it.

@PyroEvil, this is simply amazing! One man is doing such a big job! These beta results looks pretty awesome already! I wonder how it will be when you'll finish.

  5. Wow! I had no idea we'd be seeing this in blender so soon! will this go into trunk eventually, or will you keep it for use as a premium add on?
