MinnBUG Meetup - Rigging

Last meeting we gave away two copies of Olivar Villar's new book Learning Blender: A Hands-On Guide to Creating 3D Animated Characters. Congratulations to long-time member Brandon and brand-new member Cade on their new books, and thank you again to InformIT Publishing!

Our next meeting will be held on Sunday, January 4th, from 1:00 to 4:00pm, at the University of Minnesota, Keller Hall, 1-260.

In our first meeting of 2015, we will be discussing rigging in Blender. We'll look into how to layout a good armature and look into adding constraints to the bones to prevent them from bending in unnatural ways. After we layout our bone structure, we will look into weight painting and some of the automated methods to (hopefully) save time and make our lives easier!

If there is time in the meeting, we will also examine some of the more advanced topics, including IK, control bones, python constraints, and creating custom interfaces for your rigs.

As always, feel free to bring any other general questions that you have related to Blender. We have some very experienced members who may be able to help come up with a solution.

Date: December 14th, 1-4pm.

Location: UofM, Keller Hall, room 1-260.
