Gottfried Hofmann of BlenderDiplom shares some impressive fire and smoke simulation tests rendered in Cycles.
Gottfried Hofmann writes:
I did another series of smoke and fire tests with Blender 2.71 and Cycles. This time I used the final version which had many bugs fixed and some performance improvements which allowed me to render the scenes in FullHD. Render times where still kinda high, though...

Wow.
Looking good!
That just blows my mind. Especially on a free program. I have to learn blender at some point. Wow.
If Cycles wasn't too slow, would be perfect...
Well.. the noise is awful.
Give it time..
Someday we will have to add noise to the render ourselves so it won't look too perfect! ;)
Wonderful work guys!
I specially like the smoke falling in the glass.
And the music choice was superb..
