An interesting collection of linked goodies.
Chris Writes:
A series of rigged models using constraints (not bones).
These are demo models from my new e-Book ("Death to the Armatures"). If the rigging on these models seems obvious to you, I recommend not buying the book:)

I guess I shouldn't buy the book.
If the rigging is obvious... please don't :)
He's a horrible salesman. :P
I'll take that as a compliment...
Congratulations my dear friend.... please read what i wrote, it is down hehe, Hugs...
It would have been a lot better if you used constrained bones ! For so many parts, better is to hold them in just one Armature.. If we need to animate the constraints' influence then the whole mess will show up in the VSE with a bunch of strips.
Hey,
Thanks for the feedback...
I agree with you to a point... and as I mentioned in the book, armatures certainly have their value. For professional animators, obviously, they're a must. On the other hand, they've always presented a "barrier to entry" for simple and intermediate hard-surface stuff. There are many people out there who want to rig engines, aircraft, etc. for personal or educational use... and they'll probably never touch the VSE.
The point of the book (and thus the models) was to show the versatility of constraints without using armatures. So adding them would have defeated the purpose:)
Thanks again!

aw poor armatures dont stand a chance.
The book's name is strange...
but Chris' tuts on YouTube and his shares on BlendSwap are great!
So... don't blame him or you'll be treated as a troll :)
mmmm what a shame speaking or writing those things, if u dislike ( just leave it ) and if u like ( write a nice comment ), i downloaded from blendswap his work and i like it, and i wanna thank u´r work, i appreciate it and hope in the future watch a video from u or sharing u´r stuff, hugs my dear friend and keep u´r work up.... have a blessful day
when oneself is trying to show anything, oneself NEED to give a chance and give him a support and help each other for getting better, that´s a lesson very important not only for learning but for being someone who knows how to teach and progress in life, I'm not here to offend, but to educate and learn from u and be someone who teaches others
This looks interesting as I've been trying to seriously study rigging recently. Armatures are clearly needed for deforming objects, but this looks good, too. Might be worth checking out.
Wait, it's only FIVE DOLLARS!? I may be running out of excuses not to buy this book.
It's a good book. I haven't finished it yet, but it's helped me rig some hinged handcuffs already.
Hi Chris, just wanted to say I had a look at Your books and they are great!
I really appreciate the Rocket Bike book, its exactly the kind of tips and tricks i always wanted in written form. Very well done! Even bought it AND rated it on Amazon ;-)
(I myself published a technical book, and know how much time, effort and courage it takes!)
PS: The name of the "Rocket Bike" Book is a bit misleading: at first glance I thought: Pretty gutsy putting out a book that just describes how to make a motorcycle. But only after rooting around more on Amazon, I stumbled across it again and then had a closer look. Maybe tweak the description a bit?
Regards
Dennis
Great job! Looking forward for more.
