This must be one of the best BlenderArt magazines I've seen. I've been peeking at the multi-layered SSS tests thread at Blenderartists.org for a while but have never had time to sit down and work through all of it and try it out, but now there's a nicely step-by-step formatted one in the mag! Same goes for the fire tut.

Well done guys, looks like a killer issue!

  9. 9 Dusty Edit Link

Sweet! This is a great edition to the series! And the wow factor is very well covered here! Thanks!

  10. 10 roofoo Edit Link

    nevermind, it worked this time…

  11. 11 Charles Edit Link

Really cool! But the WOW factor isn't in the technique…

  12. 12 temujin143 Edit Link

    Thanks blenderart people. :)

  13. 13 Sandra Gilbert Edit Link

Charles: Actually, very rarely is the "WOW" in the technique or the tool/feature itself. The WOW is most often in the end result. And as with most things in life, most WOW effects can be accomplished in more than one way. This issue covers a few of the ways to accomplish some WOW results.

Proud to see my article in the mag… :) I hope you'll have fun reading it, as much as I've enjoyed writing it !
The others articles are great too. I'm out of date concerning the particles system, and seemingly the articles will help me to update myself… The fire tutorial is particularly… audacious. I hadn't thought that the main trick was done using composite nodes.

  21. 21 Sanne Edit Link

Thanks to all contributors for another great magazine!

I went through the multilayer sss article and got nice results. Congrats for such a fine article, Pixelvore, and thank you for writing it. It's amazing what's possible with material nodes, I really should dive more into it.

The other articles also look very promising. Wow, indeed. :)

  22. 22 BonE Edit Link

I vote for a WOW! button next to the render button

  23. 23 Pixelvore Edit Link

Yeah, between the [Generate-a-fully-textured-and-rigged-character] button and the [Real-time-Global-Illumination] button, located in the {WOW} panel… :)

  24. 24 Sandra Gilbert Edit Link

LOL, don't forget the "Make My Render Beautiful" button and the "Create an Amazing Short Like Pixar" buttons.
