Fresh Blender News, Every Day
Philippe (French version) has created a detailed tutorial on automating the animation of cars.
Philippe says:
After reading the theme of the next Release of Blenderart Magazine (car modeling), I remembered that I hadn't written a tutorial about the method that I found some months ago for automated car animation. So I have finally done it, and it is available here in PDF format, with a blend file provided.
The tutorial even includes tire compression on curves and automated steering wheel motion (including animating the characters hands with the motion!).
More from Philippe:
You 'll have only to concentrate your efforts on facial animation of your character and details, leaving the driving task to the system.
Apparently Philippe is planning on creating a system for motorcycles next. This tutorial is definitely worth a read. And he even includes a .blend file to see how its done.

This looks like a great tutorial, I'll try it as soon as I get to a pc running Blender.
Happy New Year!
Hi ! Thanks Everybody and Happy New Year!
Do not search the French version of the tutorial, because I haven't written a French version.
The French version link is currently pointing to this URL :
http://www.3d-synthesis.com/index_english.html
Which is the English version of the home page.
The French version of the homepage is the default homepage, and is here:
http://www.3d-synthesis.com/index.html
I am French, but as I'm present almost only on English-speaking sites, my own website is not much visited by French Blenderheads. So I haven't translated all my tutorials in French. This means that most of the tutorials available on the French version of my site are written in English as well.
I prefer spending time on writing new tutorials when I can instead of spending time on a French version which is less downloaded. I'm sorry for my French visitors…
Philippe.
send me animation
