GIMP 2.9.2 Released

This is the first release that previews the new Generic Graphics Library (GEGL) which is built entirely on a node-based system. As such, it already offers a number of improvements:

  • 16/32bit per color channel processing
  • Basic OpenEXR support
  • On-canvas preview for many filters
  • Experimental hardware-accelerated rendering and processing via OpenCL
  • Higher-quality downscaling

  1. Excellent news, Gimp and Krita are the core of the 2D work that supports my 3D renders I always look forward to a Gimp update and this one sounds fantastic. The biggest new feature for me at least is the integration of the iwarp tool into the package to make a proper warp tool that works on the image directly, fantastic news going to give this a try!
