You can now win a Replicator 2 MakerBot 3D Printer by creating a parametric design in OpenSCAD - an open source CAD modeling tool.

Hey I'm a fellow Blender user and wanted to pass along this awesome opportunity for 3D designers using open source software.

Thingiverse, Makerbot's 3D design sharing site is holding a challenge to create 3D designs for parametric objects for use with the new Makerbot Customizer app. The designs are created using the open source tool OpenSCAD. There are three categories: Artistic, Useful, and Wearable and the best design in each category will win a Makerbot Replicator 2X Desktop 3D Printer! This is Makerbot's latest printer just revealed at CES a few weeks ago. It is capable of printing in two colors or materials at once and retails for $2,799.00. All of the details of the challenge can be read here.

Here's a video of the printer in action:

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Happy Blendering :)
