Tony Mullen Workshops, Colombia, August 2008

14

Tony Mullen will be hosting a series of Blender-related workshops and presentations in Bogota, Colombia this August. It seems like BlenderHeads are being invited to show up all over the world these days. Time to post my résumé somewhere ;-)

Tony writes:

Hi! I wanted to let people know that I'm getting my plans in order to travel to Bogota, Colombia in August to take part in the LOOP 2008 festival, where I'll spend a week giving a total of 13 hours of Blender-related workshops and presentations! I'll be giving seminars on game creation and character animation, as well as an in-depth workshop on Python scripting for Blender. I'm very excited to visit Latin America for my first time, and I'll definitely plan to pack a few copies of the Spanish version of "Introducing Character Animation with Blender" alongside my phrasebook!

The website for the festival is here.

I know there are a lot of great Blender artists in Latin America, so if anybody is in the area and able to attend the festival, I'd love to meet them!

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. Great to see the interest in blender popping everywhere! Hell this week I even heard some game creation teacher in Montréal would be using Blender Game Engine in an "outside" school program with the students. Looks like not a week goes by without a school or something offering some new Blender classes :)

On another note, glad to see you around Bart! :)

  2. 13 hours ?? are you nuts? 13 is the unlucky number :P
joking aside, good luck with your course , Teach those Latinas some blendering, we can do with some fresh blood.

  3. Thanks for the comments! Yes, I'm definitely looking forward to the trip! Unfortunately, what little Spanish I had once upon a time I think I've mostly forgotten. Hopefully a bit of it will come back, but I'll be doing my workshops in English.

@Yorik, I'd love to make my next trip be Brazil! Sounds great.

@ysvry, actually, I'm giving a non-Blender-related presentation for another 2 hours, so no worries about bad luck! I'll certainly be plenty busy though...

Oh, and nice to see you back around these parts, Bart!

  4. That's great Tony, there's a lot of excitement in the blender Spanish-speaking communities and forums. I'll try to attend so if you need a hand with a translator or a tour-guide in Bogota just let me know ;)

    regards,
    Alvaro

  5. Pretty nice! I hope you enjoy your stay :)

I'd like to be there, but chances are I'll travel to EU before August 15th :(
