blenderart magazine 2Blenderart Magazine #2 is out and once again it is packed with Blender goodness. It features 60 pages of tutorials, articles, Q&A's and Blender Art and it's available for free.

Here's a short table of contents:

  • Spider rigging (rigging a character model)
  • Game character rigging
  • Animating falling feathers
  • Making of 'Age of Steam'
  • Making of 'Plumiferos'
  • Making of 'New Pengueon'
  • Creating a texture in the Gimp

  • Project Orange special !!
  • Report
  • ‘Stop Staring' - Reviewed

Frankly, I am amazed that this is made available for free. The articles are well written and the design is professional. Do other 3D apps have similarly enthousiastic communities that produce such cool magazines? If so, let me know!

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  2. Blender still impresses, just a lot more. But it is the folks behind it that are the real stars.

I use to do AE cadd. Can't get a job doing it any more, so I guess it time to struggle through learning 3D, which is something I've wanted to do for a long time. None of my former employers saw 3D as a tool. I see it as one for the right place, but Blender and Linux make me very happy.
I love the grand cooperation that resulted in a very powerful tool. After seeing Elephants Dream I was even more impressed. (I might add that I feel often like Dave Phillips; that the film score is complimented by the video and I was not disappointed by Jan's score, except that I wish it were longer!) When I find that elusive job I will order the DVD so I can show off what Open Source is capable of.

BTW, I was told by an engineer that Linux was a "dead OS and that Linux was mere rebellion against M$." This was back in 1997. I'm so glad he was wrong!

    Great work!

The link you posted is not a download site, it's just a search engine, and I can't download anything from it.
