Blender is part of a Mexican program to help bring 3D printing to the masses.
Luis Pacheco writes:
3D printers have entered ours lives as a tool that allows us to be designers and manufacturers of our own products. But ¿How can we bring people closer to this new technology?
In México, 3D technology isn't as popular as we would wish, that is why MakerMex, a company born from this concern in the city of Leon Mexico., brings people of all ages closer to becoming a Maker. By conducting already more than 5 workshops, MakerMex teaches 3D modeling, model repair and 3D printer assembly, for everyone interested in 3D printing. There's no need of previous mechanical or programming knowledge. This company plans to do their next workshop next February.
The first two days the assistants learn how to do some modeling for 3D printing in Blender. The last two days people get to build their own printer, with the help of a manual, videos and Makermex technicians. At the end of the second day everybody is printing anything they can imagine!
This workshops have been given to universities, electronic companies, freelance designers, and also to rehabilitation center that plans to start prosthetic printing.
This summer the first kid's workshop will be given, the plan is to teach youngsters from 9 to 14 years old, robotics, 3D printing and video game programming all this in a free Open Source program ,
This way the economic barrier to bring people closer to 3D printer is lowered.

Long life to Makermex!
Espero que no les vendan productos de Cubify. Son la pesadilla del autónomo. No caigan en su red monopolizadora.

Please remember to comment in English as well - this is an international community!
Translation: I hope they don't sell them products from Cubify*1. They're indie's worst nightmare. Don't fall on their monopolizing net! etc etc etc
I hope they eventually bring some workshops to Mexico City.
You can email us we sure can arrange one :)
Soon, I'm going to move to a rural town in Jalisco Mexico and I'm hoping I could build Tesla's patents using a 3d metal printer....how much will a large scale industrial 3d printer cost?
One million dollars, at the very least.
We currently only use FDM plastic printer, very soon we will have more materials, let us know if we can help you anyhow.
