The Evening Ferry

4

By Gregory Smith.

This picture started out as a doodle on the side of a piece of paper when I was bored, but it was surprisingly enjoyable to try and transfer some quick scribbles into a detailed render, and I suppose it benifits from the focus on the large shapes first. Created in Blender, with texturing split between Blender (partly using CMV materials), and Substance Painter.

    • Do the name of the ferry Eevee Queen and the clay render mean it was rendered in eevee? What about the use of Cycles Material Vault, which indicates cycles, or can those textures be effectively used by eevee? The smoke is well done - again, eevee?

      • Eevee Queen is just a symbol of my lack of imagination with names :) It was rendered in Cycles. The smoke was painted in Photoshop - I considered doing it in Blender, but in the end I decided it would be much faster to do in 2D.

Wow what a stunning piece, also big thanks to the artstation link provided earlier.

That guy is good and still learning, big respect for artists like that!
