I saw the animation on BlenderArtists. Very nice!
Why not add some sound and dramatic music to it? That could serve the atmosphere very well and enhance the scene even more.

I didn't think about the sound at the time of production, as it was a technical 'test run' of my workflow.
But come to think of it, it could have be better with some music that goes with the scene, as you said.
