This is the render I made for a tutorial that I'm working on.
I tried to find a way to set up two differents shaders for the night/day material and an atmosphere which would get the orangy look at sunset. Hope you like it...

unfortunately I found out that there is a missing about a material which should be developed nad included for some of next version of blender there is more about it here:

It's easy to make this fake for just an image, but in realtime animation at this moment it's not posible. ..

Of course a material which would react according the angle of the light rays would be great...
Thanks for the video Nikolas it looks great! Actually there is a change to cheet bit anad to achieve this effect. Look at the link I send it, very soon will be updated with something I' work on. Creating such kind of shader.. hope to have more free time and to experiment more. :) really nice video again! :)
Very Very Cool! I love the tiny details like the rivers that seem to reflect light!
Does anyone have reference photos of how the real ocean reflects specular highlights from orbital altitudes? I'm not sure I've ever seen a good example.
