I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. Such a great idea ! One of the most relevant image I ever seen for every fan of compositing ... and not only using the Blender Compositor.

    Congratulations Raoul !!!

  2. It's the first time that I post one of my pictures on this great website and I must say that all of your congratulations go straight to my heart.First I must thank  François Grassard (coyhot) for advising me to post it. I enjoyed very much making it because I'm a great fan of BLENDER and I want to say thanks to you, the ARTISTS.

  3. lol, wanna get these nodes to me and spread them all over my table :D

great idea, the render looks realistic

maybe add a bump map to the wood to have the planks look more seperated (looks a little flat), but that isn't bad :)

  4. Fantastic concept.  I always get insanely jealous when I see amazing ideas like this.  Congratulations!!!
A few points of constructive crit.  The lighting could be more dramatic but it's hard to tell with a vignette in there, there should really be deeper shadow/caustics caused by the jars, the front left one looks like it's been photoshopped in at a later date.  The spacing of the floorboards in the floor texture look very wide giving it a linoleum effect rather than hardwood flooring which would would have a thinner deeper gap between them.  I would have loved to see a blender logo label on the jars or better yet a bump mapped logo on an old style kilner jar.  It's all in the detail!!!

Despite these picky points it is a truly inspired piece and I look forward to your next render with anticipation.

Don't you mean 2.75? 2.64 would have been about two/three years ago.

I have to agree though, would make a great splash screen. I want something like this as my Desktop background!

I think this is one of the best banners on BlenderNation. Brilliant idea and awesome render, love it!
