Goodbye BlenderKit, hello Blendkit!

For several years, the Blender Foundation has been asking to not use the name ‘Blender’ in the name of companies and their products, mainly to avoid a sense of them being official or endorsed. Community sites are generally exempt from this (phew!), but they will actively work with more commercial parties to update to a better name. BlenderKit is the most recent example of this.
Vilém Duha writes:
After much thought and consideration, we have decided to change the name of our 3D asset library from BlenderKit to Blendkit.
This may sound like a small step, but it is actually a giant leap. Since day one, we have dedicated ourselves to Blender. Our goal has always been to empower the community with tools to make the most of the software. From every sold subscription, we have sent money to the Blender Development Fund and are proud to be a Corporate Gold member. Changing our name is further proof of our long-term commitment. The aim is to protect Blender by respecting its trademark.
With the blessing of the Blender Foundation, we chose the name Blendkit for a few reasons. We wanted to provide a smooth transition for our users while our small team works tirelessly to ensure a seamless experience. We skipped the over-the-top rebranding because we truly love who we are; however, this new identity gives us the space to grow even beyond our dear Blender. For instance, we’re already developing a new add-on that imports assets from our library into Godot Engine and another add-on for Rhinoceros is on the way. Many more dreams lie ahead of us, but one thing is certain—we will forever blend!
To celebrate our new name, we offer a 20% discount on Full Plan and Blender add-ons. The discount will be valid till July 8th.
Thank you for growing with us!
Yours,
The Blendkit team
