2D Face Rig Making Course for Blender with Procedural Textures
Mumu Mundo writes:
My 2D mouth and eyes rigging tutorials are getting old, so I decided to update the material and combine it into a step-by-step course that creates a full 2D face rig.complete with animated eyebrows and a nose.
We’ll start by modeling the face and adding materials, then jump into shape keys – creating, adjusting, and mirroring them.
For the mouth and eyes, we’ll build procedural textures using shading nodes for the teeth, tongue, iris, pupil, and reflections. I’ll also show you how to use image textures as an alternative.
From there, it’s on to the armature: deform bones, parenting, Symmetrize, vertex groups, and weights. We’ll add drivers to link shape keys to bones, lock any unneeded axes, and set up bone constraints for the eyes and mouth.
You’ll learn to organize bones with collections, use Shrinkwrap to attach everything to the head, and finally merge your face rig with an existing body armature – then test it all by creating real expressions.
