Recreating Jurassic Park’s Iconic T-Rex Breakout Shot in Blender

Jurassic Park is one of the films that inspired me to get into VFX, and the T-Rex breakout is arguably one of the most iconic shots in cinema history. FreddyMakesaMovie wanted to see if I could rebuild it entirely in Blender — from modeling and texturing to rain, mud, lighting, and final compositing.
The original 1993 scene was created by ILM using Alias PowerAnimator, Softimage, and RenderMan. To recreate it with free modern tools like Blender felt like a fun challenge and a tribute to the groundbreaking work that came before.
