Hameed shared this re-render of old model that even played a role in the 3DS Max community! He also shares a bit about his background and journey as a 3D artist.
Hameed writes:
I’m a very old artist with decades as an independant illustrator, indeed I predate the internet and am about as old as a digtal artist can be, and as an artist (after the internet was invented) I have spent the entirety of my online presence over on DeviantArt (itself one of of the oldest digital art sites now), and so my audience has always been other artists, this model, and the Time Machine one (download the model here), were just ways to give back to my peers who inspired/helped/encouraged me over the years.
I was a 3DsMax user since MS-DOS, and Photoshop since its first PC iteration, I shared both these models with the 3DS Max community after gaining some years of experience, and both were well received, being popular among educators, and even being requested by AutoDesk themselves to use to stress test max internally.
Since im mostly retired these days as my health is not the best, I decided (last year) to allow my max license to lapse and finally learn Blender, with a view on making and sharing random cool things to the Blender community, and the models I had already shared seemed a logical place to start.
Hope this makes some degree of sense, and you should know I have no real agenda beyond sharing cool things, just think of me as an old guy doodling, im certainly not trying to sell anything or promote myself, that time came went for me and it was awesome, now with the rest of my time I get to say thank you, and this is my way. :)
Would like to add that Blender is amazing and I regret not learning it sooner, and I would like to thank you for your part in it, as a 3d guy I have been following it since the beginning with interest, and am glad to finally be a part of this wonderful community you have helped create. [Thanks Hameed, I really appreciate that!]
I will make another post with more details about the LRV project itself once I have completed it, likely to go along with the .blend file itself, so hopefully I can share that on BlenderNation soon.
