Here’s a cool short video of a jumping spider that Thatrius posted on Blender Artists.

This is a Portia labiata jumping spider. It is the only spider known to be intelligent enough to have object permanence (it can navigate around large objects like trees without forgetting about its prey on the other side), and can vary its hunting strategy based on the type of prey it is hunting.

One of the main tactics they’re known for is plucking the webs of much bigger spiders to mimick the vibrations of prey stuck in the web. The owner of the web will approach expecting a meal, and Portia will ambush and eat them instead. Overall 9.9999/10 spoder (-0.0001 points for not having a real spider civilization like in Children of Time).
