This is Insane: Lens Sim Adds Physically Accurate Lenses to Blender

There’s a buzz in the Blender community about the new Lens Sim add-on by Håvard Dalen. By simulating the individual elements in a lens using path tracing and the new Ray Portal BSDF node, it generates images with uncanny realism.

In addition to providing over 40 pre-set existing lenses, it adds an interactive lens editor that lets you fine-tune individual lens elements. Check out the videos to believe it – this adds a degree of realism you haven’t seen in Blender before – or perhaps even in any other 3D app?
