Behind the Scenes: Staged

INTRODUCTION

Hello, I’m Peter Akiki from Canada. I began my creative journey in 3D modeling at the Azrieli School of Architecture and Urbanism, from which I received a Masters in Architecture degree. In my spare time, I enjoy experimenting with computer software and learning from other 3D artists online.

INSPIRATION

Ironically, this Blender scene is a behind-the-scenes look at the aftermath of a photoshoot inspired by an illustration I created in 2018. While I initially intended to include the original character from the illustration, I chose to limit the storytelling to objects and materials instead.

PROCESS

This project served as a testing ground where I explored a variety of modeling and texturing strategies.

The clothes and sandbag meshes began with cloth simulations, followed by sculpting.

I experimented with procedural texturing to allow for flexible adjustments to the visual narrative.

Here are some of the other assets with which I experimented with the textures:

I developed a Geometry Nodes setup to generate a mesh that resembles a sunflower along any curve, including a decay parameter.

Here is the geometry node set-up:
