BlenderNation Survey 2023-15 - Tutorials

3

Hey! So my plan to do a weekly survey went off the rails quickly, but I'm back with some questions about Tutorials. As before, this will only take a minute and it would be hugely helpful for us.

You can access this week's survey here - it's just 4 questions.

Results of last time - visit frequency

Nice! The majority of you (52%0 visit BlenderNation on a daily basis, and a substantial group (13%) even returns multiple times per day. It appears weekdays are more popular than weekends (I'm setting up a more privacy-focused pageviews tracker now, so I should have some reliable data on that in a few weeks).

What makes you visit BlenderNation?

I suspect the daily visitors have developed some strong motor memory and visit daily out of habit :) Other main drivers are our daily newsletter and the news tab on Blender Artists. I had kind of forgotten about that one - it's amazing to see how effective it is!

Where do you follow BlenderNation on social media?

This was a big surprise to me - more than 60% of you don't use social media! (That actually sounds like a very healthy thing to me). The main drivers are Twitter, Facebook and Mastodon. Seeing Mastodon this high up in the list after being on there for only a few months really confirms the importance of the new non-monolithic social media to me, but that's another discussion ;-)

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. Do you mean BOTH of those were write-in responses? If so, then that category might be drastically underreported in your results. And as a daily RSS follower myself, I'd love to know if we're a trifling minority or a hidden power base.
