Behind the Scenes: Frog Archer

1

INTRODUCTION

Hello everyone, my name is Abdo Salim. I am 24 years old and from Giza, Egypt. I started using Blender when I was in university and didn't realize that someday 3D would become my main career. Although I've worked on many things, I found myself drawn to 3D.

INSPIRATION

I wanted to create a self-project to enhance my portfolio, so it was a challenge for me. Here are some references I used to make it.

PROCESS

For the process, I went from Blender to ZBrush, back to Blender to create the assets, retopology, UV mapping, and the final render. I used Substance Painter for the textures.

I also utilized the Blender add-ons: BagaPie, Texel Density, and UV Pack Master.

MODELING

I made the block-out in Blender, then imported it into ZBrush for detailing and polishing.

UV

This is an example of the UV mapping for the body only.

I created a texture set for each asset, such as the wraps, quiver, and bow.

LIGHTING

The lighting was simple, with the character being the main focus, I added the necessary lights around him and a sun lamp for directional lighting in the scene. I also added a box with volumetrics for better light bounces and to create a more atmospheric environment.

FROG ARCHER

Thanks for reading, and feel free to ask me anything.

Have a great day!
