After years of working on this in my spare time, my historical shortfilm set in ancient Greece is finally out! Hope you'll like it, and enjoy the story, the visuals and the battles ☺️

Making of:

I put together majority of the scenes and assets in Blender, where I also rendered the shots using Cycles.

I also used other, more specialized tools. Absolutely essential for the character meshes and animation was Reallusion's Character Creator and iClone, as well as the Rokoko suit for capturing my own animations.
I employed Marvelous Designer for cloth simulations and Substance Painter for texturing most of the assets. The Adobe package served well in postproduction and editing, I used Photoshop for still images, After Effects for compositing the shots and Premiere for editing the video.

  2. Very impressive. I really admire the quality of your work, your filmmaking skills and your ability to handle so many complementary softwares. congratulations. ; ).

  3. Wow Martin! I'm blown away by the quality of your work - each scene is visually stunning, the animation is great, and the story and sound are fantastic. Loved it!

  4. Heroes of Bronze? Wow. I have been waiting for this. Martin, *you* are a Hero of Blender. Well done for showing everyone what can be done.

Now if we and BF can only improve Blender's workflow so we can do this faster than the alternatives, Blender will be unstoppable.

  5. Martin, You have obviously learned a lot by creating this short film and I am guessing ran into problems and limitations with Blender which slowed you down. There are others like myself trying to do films of this quality. I think we are discovering a lot but there is really no where to write it down and suggest solutions, perhaps to the Blender Foundation. Take Cloth for example, and just one example. I struggled for many months with that before I realized it just wasn't capable of the production quality necessary, and realized Marvelous was the way to go. Yet I suspect none of this sort of feedback ever makes it back to BF. Perhaps Ton himself thinks Cloth is fine as is. And this is just one example. RightClickSelect only deals with single issues, and I'm told the BF developers don't read BlenderArtists, and not everyone can afford to fly to the Blender conferences. If you think it's worth film makers collaborating to improve Blender's capabilities in this regard, can I suggest you create a web forum or something somewhere to move on this?
