Dream Textures AI Generator Add-on 0.0.9 Update

We have covered Dream Textures before: this Blender add-on uses Stable Diffusion to turn text prompts into highly detailed textures right inside Blender. The 0.0.9 version, which is currently in pre-release, adds some very useful new features.

This update includes texture projection, inpainting model support, depth to image for the render pass, and a lot more. The internals have also been reimplemented to use Diffusers.

The most exciting new feature is the depth based texture mapping, allowing you to automatically apply a texture to an existing 3D scene in Blender.

You can tweak the settings and prompt until the result matches your needs. And Dream Textures keeps a history of your runs so you can revert to a previous texture if you need.

With all the debate around AI and art, this is a great example of how I think AI can be a valuable tool for artists – as part of their toolbelt, and not as an ‘art generator’. And yet, I recognize that the speed of AI development is both exciting and scary at the same time!
