I love rocks! So much that I want to share all my creations with everyone =]
In this project, I tried to replicate the cliff-rock formations you usually find on mountain slopes. Obviously, it hasn't turned out amazing in terms of realism...
If you were to compare this to an actual organic rock you would notice certain defects
but I am going to keep attempting to make it better =]This is a completely procedural material that gives you full control over the rock's appearance with the node group provided.
At its core, it's just different Voronoi textures layered on top of each other along with Noise and Musgrave texture, Nothing too complex.
There are options to edit the rock's color, roughness, bump, and displacement mapping, along with options to edit the noise and voronoi scale, the noise's detail (no. of noise octaves, higher values give a more "rocky" appearance but take longer to render, by default it's set to 15 in this material, which you may not need). Furthermore, you can alter the Musgrave texture's dimension, rock pointiness (protrudes certain rock edges), and the randomness of the VoronoiHope you have a lot of fun with the material!
