One of Blender's most requested features has just made it into the Blender 3.2 alpha: Light groups! Light groups are a powerful system allowing the generation of user-determined lighting passes, which can include scene, environment, and material lights. This allows for huge flexibility at the compositing stage.
Quick little tutorial about how to use new #lightgroups in #blender 3.2 alpha
-Create groups in "View Layer" tab
-Add light sources from the "Object" tab>shading>Ligthgroups
(world could be added too, from world properties tab)

The long-awaited and game-changing feature was a collaborative effort between many developers, notably Alex Fuller the original developer of the patch, and Lukas Stockner who polished and submitted it.
Here is a video of me quickly trying this feature out to showcase the power and versatility of light groups:

It looks like someone forgot to mention that this is a cycle-only feature ;) Hopefully not for long !
The light groups do not work when the shadow catcher in visibility tab is turned on.!!!
This is a fantastic addition. Thanks devs!!!!
