Drop a Controller-Playable Mario into Any Blender Scene

6

The title reads like a poorly thought-out April Fools joke, but thankfully, and incredibly, it is one hundred percent real: Jeremy burns has created an addon integrating libsm64 into Blender, effectively giving the ability to drop a fully playable Mario into any Blender scene.

The results are really cool when combined with the real-time power of Eevee, and I was morally bound (by virtue of sharing a name with the character in question) to try it out:

  1. Well I guess now i'll have to pretend I don't have important work to finish and try to put Mario in all my scenes

How do you control the Marioplayer? Normal inputs with a keyboard don't seem to work for me because of blenders preexisting key bindings.

    • You need to use a controller to control Mario. I didn't have one at hand, so I downloaded an android app called DroidJoy, which turned my phone into a wireless controller.
