Every year, dedicated students contribute to Blender's development through the Google Summer of Code program. This always makes September a special time for me, as I get to write roundups of the resulting project, celebrating the students' work and Blender's community driven development in general.
Second part of the GSoC 2021 roundup series! This time overviewing projects tackling UV editing and the Video Sequencer Editor. https://t.co/Bo7VKOeHSB #b3d #GSoC #b3dev

In a post appearing on the Blender Developers Blog, I continue this year's four-part roundup by covering Aditya Jeppu's and Siddhartha Jejurkar's awesome projects contributing to two of Blender's powerful editors: The UV Editor and the VSE. Aditya's work added previews to the video strips, a patch that has already landed in master, while Siddhartha's foray into the UV editor saw him updating edge snapping, packing islands to box area, UDIM improvements, and more.

I always enjoyed the simplicity and responsiveness of the VSE. A couple of years back, I turned away from it after a quite frustrating music video project where fast & precisely time synced replay was crucial.
Last week I started to prepare my sister's wedding video and gave Blender a shot again for editing.
Awesome progress! A big THANK YOU to Richard Antalik and all the developers who have contributed to the VSE recently. It's a pleasure to work with!
PS: Absorbing some community add-on functionality (e.g. parallel render) into Blender directly would be sweet.
