Blender 3.0 Release Date and Major Features Confirmed

9

Dalai Felinto has just sent an email on the venerable Bf-committers mailing list confirming that Blender 3.0 is slated for release this December!

In the email, Dalai revealed the following key dates for the release:

* September 22 - bcon2
* October 20 - bcon3
* November 24 - bcon4
* December 1 - bcon5 (release)

This means that the developers have until September 22 to merge any big feature hoping to make it to the 3.0 release, with Dalai revealing what's planned to make it in, including massive new projects such as Cycles X, the Asset Browser, the Geometry Nodes "Fields" refactor, UI changes, and more.

The Eevee Vulcan refactor has been postponed until Blender 3.1. Check out the email on the link below:

  1. Interface wise i would say it is only less worse unfortunately.
    It is completly awkard to use with native keymap.
    With industry keymap it has bugs or silly behavior.

  2. imho it's only awkward if you're not used to it - once you've been using it for a while it's extremely efficient. I used maya for around 10 years and switched to blender a couple of years ago and I find it much faster for lots of stuff.

    Personally I wouldn't recommend the "industry keymap", just take the time to learn to use it how it's supposed to be used :-)

    • Absolutely! I've been using 3Ds Max for over a decade at work and Blender at home. Working in Blender is so much faster. It's the initial getting used to that put most people off.
