The first trailer for the Maya and The Three has just dropped! This gorgeous miniseries, described by its director as a Mexican, funny Lord of the Rings, was made with Blender by the incredibly talented team of the now tragically defunct Tangent Animation.

The four-and-a-half-hour-long mesoamerican epic helmed by Jorge Gutierrez is slated to be released this summer on Netflix in 30-minute chunks. Do yourself a favor and watch the full-HD-free-of-twitter-compression version on youtube below!
It’ll leave you teary eyed! I have a feeling there’s going to be a surplus of people using Blender after it comes out.
Animation wise, it looks very subpar compared to say Luca from Pixar.
Haha I should hope so, the quota for this show was around 10-15 seconds of Spline work per week, compared to Luca which would have been below 3 seconds.
I hope after watching the the full episode, that the quality of work is there. But from the teaser, it doesn’t seem like Tangent does quality work. If this is the case, it’s better for all of us that the close shop.
And, lol… you are saying if this sub-contracted production from Netflix doesn’t meet the highest 2021 quality of Pixar, the best funded and most advanced animation studio on the planet, they don’t deserve to exist? I’m sure you’d be mad at Rhythm and Hues for trying to organize, too.
4,5 Hours for another ‘I don’t want to be a princess’-story which has been done so incredibly often that’s not even worth the cliches anymore? Seriously, 4,5 hours? I found the trailer already very tedious. It did what a trailer shouldn’t be doing: make me not want to see this.
Dude. You’re an adult male. This is a movie target at FEMALE CHILDREN. Who cares if you found it tedious? What is with lonely adult men criticizing children’s media like it’s for them?

Sound like you don’t really understand how quality suffers when corporate asks too much for not enough. Make sure you think a little bit harder about additional factors there before voting, young voter. With that attitude and missing empathy and failure to investigate additional information, I can only suspect your political proclivities. You and Catmull would probably get along.
