Umbrella Movement is my latest project I worked on for a couple of month, starting in December 2020. This short is inspired by recent and past events in Hong Kong, referencing the critical political situation and the resistance of the brave people fighting for democracy.
Since the beginning of the Hong Kong pro-democracy protests in 2014 thousands of people have been arrested, many on questionable charges that have not held up in court.
In 2020 the prominent activists Joshua Wong, Agnes Chow and Ivan Lam were sentenced to up to 13.5 month in jail. Several more activists followed, others were able to leave the city.
The new national security law imposed by the Chinese Government outlaws a broad range of acts making it even more dangerous to speak up for democracy and human rights.

note… I used a false name and email that doesn't exist… I'm afraid of the government.
I love HK and HK people.
I have been traveling there for so many years and I feel sad about what's happening.
Big hug !
Very nice and meaningful short!
One knows nothing about Hong Kong's history and culture,Trying to deny a country's efforts to its own people by its own foolish performance.Yes, the pupil's understanding of 'freedom' is limited to this.
