Ubisoft Lead Character Artist on his Blender Workflow

Theodore Nikitin posted an interview on 80 Level with Ubisoft Bordeaux lead character artist Eric Moreno, where Eric talks about his incredible career path and the power of Blender in his workflow.

Eric Moreno is a bonafide industry veteran, having worked on titles such as five Assassin’s Creeds, Ghost Recon Wildlands, Far Cry 3, and more. He has even crossed paths with Mathew Luhn, the director of the upcoming Blender Open Movie Sprite Fright, by attending one of his character design masterclasses.

Eric Modelled Ciara in Blender, and even sculpted her clothes with the help of the cloth brush and Blender’s cloth solver.

In the interview, Eric goes into detail describing his storied path and the fascinating road that led him into 3D, before outlining his character design process and talking about the benefits of Blender, which include forgoing the need of going back and forth between a dozen software to produce an asset.
