The 2021 Blender Conference Postponed to 2022

5

The chairman of the Blender Foundation Ton Roosendaal has just announced the unfortunate news that the 2021 Amsterdam Blender Conference will have to be postponed for the second year in a row due to the ongoing sanitary crisis.

While the slowing down of the pandemic in some regions of the world over the past couple of months sparked a glimmer of hope as to the potential fate of this year's Blender Conference, the prevalence of variants and constant regional flare ups still made the decision to hold a massive internationial conference a few short months from now an impossible one.

Ton mentionned that a special virtual Blender 3.0 themed community event is in the works, akin to last years "Together Apart" video. He also didn't rule out the possibility of organizing smaller local "premieres" around the virtual event depending on the situation.

  1. What a pity, but not unforeseeable... like many other events are being cancelled. By the way, the good man is called Ton, not Tom ;)

  2. ?? Weird all these years my eyes have been reading Tom , not Ton, I guess we only see what we think we see

why not to be honest make this an online session ?

You can adjust to time zones and most important this could allow people from far away to also participate .

Because of Covid many events simply take place online now and work quite well that way too.
