Blender sprite 2d add-on is now available on blender market, this plugin allows you to generate 2d art for 2d games from 3d models, it is possible to generated animated 2d sprites from 3d animated models.
You can use it to generate Isometric characters with animations too, just load the 3d model with its animation and select how many angles you want to render from and the camera angle, then enjoy the result.
