eGPUs can come in clutch for a quick upgrade to your VFX workstation or in our case, a macbook VFX laptop. Feeling a little down on power, and needing an upgrade, I jumped at the chance to test out how much extra performance an eGPU could offer in my most used applications. Blender being the major one I was hoping to get a big performance boost for.
The good news is, this eGPUs work pretty well, provided you understand the limitations, and they're very affordable as an alternative to building a whole new system.

Tests say it's not such a marvel and you may as well buy a new machine if you can afford it, or upgrade the old one if it's possible. Anyway, who wants to carry about an extra case as that's what eGPU in actual fact is.
