The Asset Browser will Debut in Blender 3.0!

3

The long-awaited Asset Browser will finally debut in Blender 3.0! Blender Developer Julian Easel wrote an extensive overview of the current state of the project as well as its future plans on the Blender Developers Blog.

While we had already seen the power of the new Asset Browser via the new Pose Library which is built on top of it, this new overview showcases the powerful new Asset Browser workflow, divided into four parts by Julian: Creating, Editing, Using, and Sharing asset libraries. Here are four videos posted by Julian covering these four parts respectively:

Creating

Editing

Using

Sharing

I strongly recommend checking out the blog post in which Julian really goes into detail explaining every aspect of the Asset Browser, as well as the thought process behind its design, development, and future:

  1. To enable the Asset Browser in Blender 3.0, go to Edit > Preferences > Interface > Display then enable "Developer Extras." The Experimental tab should now be enabled in Preferences, go there and enable the Asset Browser.
