3d-io has just released a free Blender version of its venerable UV-Packer Plugin!

Previously only available for 3DS Max (where it was also recently made free to use), the addon is a production-ready automatic UV packing solution, beefing up Blender's UV toolset, and automating the tedious UV packing process. The results are impressive out of the box, check out their featurette on the video below to learn more.

  1. Mario!
    Mario!
    Wow... that is so unbelievable!!
    Fantastic!!!
Finally people can focus on creativity instead of endless boring tasks!!
    Thank you Mario!!

  2. I did try to install it on my linux box but it looks for an 'exe' which means that it is a windows based addon?

  3. I got it installed OK on my iMac. Yes, there is an .exe file in the second extracted folder but all I did was shove the whole folder into the same one that contains the first.
On my iMac, the path was:
    User/Library/Application Support/Blender 2.92/Scripts/Addons/
You are now at the folder that should contain two other folders:
    UV-Packer
    UV-Packer-Blender..._1.00.00

    • Ok. but On my side I run Linux and 'exe' files are for Windows. Unless there is a python version or a Linux compatible version it will not run .

  4. I guess but in my case I could not use it because it runs only on MS Windows. I run Linux boxes un Linux OS so way to run it. I looked at the code but I am not good enough a programmer to translate in Python.
