Blender has been accepted for Google Summer of Code 2021, marking the 16th time Blender has participated in this venerable program. Every year, google funds students over the summer to work on open-source projects.

Last year, Google granted 10 projects for the Blender Foundation. The students behind the projects were assigned mentors from the Blender development team which followed their progress over the summer and then assessed their work. The Blender Foundation has already compiled a list of suggested topics for this year's GSoC, but prospective participants are free to write up their own proposal and ideas too. Check out the list of proposed ideas and how to get started on the links below:
