Faster rendering is what its all about. We've been working hard on a new release, V0.3.0 of Crowdrender, and one experiment was very interesting so I thought I'd share it:) Essentially we rendered two scenes, one using eevee, the other cycles, across two machines, and then composite them together in Blender's compositor.
The rendering was split across two computers using our addon. The implications of this are that its possible to render things much faster this way since you can potentially pick and choose where you use eevee and where you use cycles, and also render them faster by using multiple computers :)
Learn more by reading the linked article :) There's also a two and a half min demo on youtube linked in there too!

Great one James!
Coming from someone you just spent 33mins on one render, I really appreciate this!
No worries mate, as we say down under :)
would be very interesting of combining different cryptomattes aspects from both render engines: like rendering albedo and reflections in evee but ambient occlusion, shadows and Global illumination from cycles.
This should give a fast and high quality render.
Be awesome to see that :)
