Camera Culling and LODs for Blender 2.93 - Erindale Toolkit v0.1

2

Erin writes:

Geometry Nodes has arrived properly now so I've put together a toolkit of presets to help when using the scattering tools Geo Nodes offers.

This is the first iteration and primarily contains several tools for Camera Culling and LOD setup. More tools will follow and be added into this product.

The included tools have been marked as assets so if you're an Asset Manager user, this will fit right into your library - no fuss. (Currently Geometry Node groups show up under the shader category.)

See the toolkit in use here showing some examples and the (simple) setup process for culling and LODs:

The product itself has full documentation with example setups explained.

Any purchases will get free updates for life included and I'll be supporting and growing this toolkit as Geometry Nodes matures. Right now, I won't be supporting 2.92 due to the relative lack of features versus 2.93.

Grab the Toolkit here.

Not really no. Lodify is excellent for optimising your scenes for viewport vs render for example. What my nodes do, in the case of the LOD node, is to switch out LODs based on distance from camera which is really useful for optimising scenes for Eevee. The LODs don’t change between viewport and render though so there’s no guess work in setting up your composition. The toolkit also contains tools for camera culling so instances outside the camera view are not created at all and there are additional tools coming that are included in the original purchase price.
