Ghost of the Red Forest (Blender Short Film)

4

Adam Pereira writes:

This is my first ever short film, made entirely in Blender using the Eevee render engine. This started with the watercolor samurai image that I made for the CGBoost contest, when one blenderartists user suggested that I make a video with the effect, so I did. 3 months and lots of really fast rendering later, and I have my first shortfilm.

The music was also made by me using the traditional Japanese instruments from garageband, which was actually exactly what I was looking for.

My wife and I made all of the sound effects using an assortment of objects around the house and a small USB microphone.

I am still learning how to animate, so please feel free to leave some comments and tell me what you think!

  1. Congratulations for finishing something, because all artists know how hard that can be. The movements aren't snappy enough and looks unintentionally slow motion. It's not slow enough to be slow mo and not fast enough to be exciting to watch. The motion is all very fluid and one tempo, which is not a good thing. The fight choreography is good... It just looks like everyone is moving while stuck in wet cement. All that said, it's a better first piece of work than most artists would do.

Thank you very much for the detailed notes! I plan on spending a lot more time refining the animations (and most of all, timing) on my next project. This is very helpful and much appreciated!
