Power Up Blender With Nvidia Studio

Hi BlenderNation.

My audience is always asking me how to get the best performance experience in Blender. That's why I partnered with Nvidia and Scan to talk about Nvidia's Studio initiative, which is designed specifically to empower creative people using programs like Blender, Photoshop, and Substance Painter.

  1. Unless you specifically need the portability or a laptop I would not get one, they are more expensive, parts are more expensive, and they are typically more prone to physical and heat damage because of their small size. Personally I would go with a cheaper pc not studio certified and just get a 3060 or 3070. Unless you are actually working in a studio where you need that kind of support. The difference between $3000k studio computer with beefed up parts and a 2080ti and a $1200 generic pc with a 3060 is going to be negligible for the average user. You can still use studio drivers, but these prebuilt studio pcs are way over priced for average people. Only purchase one of you have the cash or your studio is buying a turn key solution for you.

  2. This video is plain silly, as it sounds like a laptop is the ideal platform for 3D work, and also compares an old desktop PC's render times with a new ultra-expensive laptop. It might be a useful video if he took a desktop PC at the same price as the laptop, with the best GPU for the price, and told us how fast that rendered the scenes? Then perhaps he could also explain how an nVidia laptop GPU uses so much less power than an nVidia desktop GPU? Does it give the same performance - if so, why then is the desktop GPU so inefficient? Can I easily upgrade the laptop's GPU in the future, as I have done three times on my 10-year old desktop? Has anyone in the world ever enjoyed using the Blender interface on a laptop-sized screen?
